What to expect during a bra fitting at Amour

How does the sizing work?

During a fitting, we start by taking two quick measurements in your bra or tight fitting top. Then we will bring you a couple bras to try on in order to verify your size. Measurements can only take you so far. The magic comes from trying on. We like to consult with you every step of the way to make sure we’re getting the right fit for your current needs. We try to articulate what we’re seeing and looking for in a good fit, so you'll not only leave with new bras but also a new understanding of why some bras work better than others for you.

Once we have zeroed in on your size/s. Then the fun begins. We will bring you the styles you asked to see and we might throw you a little curveball here and there. Sometimes you’ll discover a new favorite that you didn’t even know was an option! This is all we do every day, and we try to find the perfect styles, colors and shapes for you. Even if you’re shopping for bridal or boudoir lingerie, you will benefit from a quality fitting. We have had women, after a fitting say, "I feel like I know myself better." Yes! That’s what we hope for!

Our inventory pulls from a wide variety of designers from all over the world. We don’t do this to seem fancy (but hey, it happens). We do this to provide you with fits, cuts and colors, you likely won’t find anywhere else in Iowa. Pulling from designers all over the world, gives us a chance to offer you a variety of bra styles that are constructed quite differently—different wire width, different cup construction different strap placement, not just different colors of the same bra like you see in many department and big box stores.

Do I need an appointment?

No, you can drop in on weekdays when it's less busy and we can help. But if you are shopping for a special occasion or just want a little extra attention, you can make an appointment directly via our appointment system.

Do I have to purchase a bra during the fitting?

No, not at all! But we'll be surprised if you don't find something you love!

What should you wear to a fitting?

We recommend wearing pants, a shirt and a bra or form fitting tank for easy measuring and trying on. In a pinch wearing a dress or jumpsuit is not a problem, but you might find it easier in two pieces.

What is our size range?

Currently, we carry 30-42 bands and B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I cups and S-XXL. Not all styles will be available in all sizes but we’re here to help you navigate it all. We are a super store but not a superstore. We don’t have piles and piles of colors and sizes. We have a carefully, hand-selected inventory that minimizes waste and specializes in meeting needs.

We fit people for bras every day. It’s all we do. We love to help you find everyday bras, wedding and special occasion pieces. We also help style women for boudoir photoshoots nearly every day. We do have some photographers we can recommend if you’re interested in boudoir photography.
